An Introduction

Welcome to the very first post of my new blog! I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to get started. I thought I’d kick things off by introducing myself and giving you a little backstory about how this blog came to be.

My name is Barcy Cordrey, and I’m currently in the third chapter of my career. (If you want the full scoop, you can check out my About page!) But for now, let’s skip to the good stuff—the end of chapter two and the beginning of chapter three.

In chapter two, I wore a lot of hats—business analyst, scrum master, product owner, project manager… you name it, I probably did it! I was working as a consultant, which was exciting because I got to dive into new projects all the time, working with different teams and industries. It was a blast—until it wasn’t.

Consulting, as fun as it can be, comes with a major risk: burnout. I was running full steam ahead, hopping from one project to the next, and eventually, it started to catch up with me. A career I once loved left me feeling completely drained. So, I did something wild—I quit. Yep, I walked away and took a much-needed sabbatical to figure out what was next.

During my sabbatical, I rested, spent time with family, took a few trips, tackled some long-neglected projects around the house, and, of course, thought a lot about what my next chapter would look like. I explored a few different ideas, but nothing felt quite right. And then an opportunity came knocking: a startup needed someone to run operations. They had the tech people, they had the salespeople, but they needed someone to handle all the “other stuff.”  This would encompass everything from creating the website, administering the CRM system, setting up contracts, paying the bills, and absolutely anything else that needed doing.

With my eclectic background, I knew I could do it. I already had a solid foundation of knowledge, and anything I didn’t know, I was confident I could learn. That’s when things really got interesting. I found my sparkle again! Every day brought something new to learn or a new challenge to tackle. I felt that excitement bubbling up inside me as I stepped into this new chapter. But something was still missing – I missed mentoring. And that’s how this blog was born. I wanted to create a space where I could mentor, advise, coach, and share what I’ve learned with anyone who’s looking for it.

I’m beyond excited to start sharing this journey with you! My goal is to build a community where we can all learn, grow, and support each other. Let’s do this!

Make it a great day!
